Lines Brothers Rocking Horse
This lovely little Lines Brothers Sportiboy
has been wonderfully restored to give an authentic
period feel. The horse is around 80 years old and
would have been made in London in the 1920s. He
is guaranteed to be an original Lines rocking horse.
Unlike many older and antique rocking
horses which are offered for sale, this horse has been
completely stripped to the timber for a thorough structural
restoration by an experienced professional restorer
before several coats of gesso have been applied and
the paintwork and dappling has been intricately undertaken.
He has subtle paintwork
with tonal variation and depth and an understated dappling
to compliment the character of the horse. There
is great attention to detail in the painting and
that it is not just one uniform colour. Rather,
it is skilfully built-up in layers.
He has a beautifully upholstered saddle
in deluxe
leather of a type used for fine Chesterfield sofas. This
is durable and robust and of the finest quality. You
will note the tonal staining of the leather to enhance
the appearance further.
Please do not confuse him with poor imitations:
he has been restored to his pomp and is in superb condition.

About Lines Brothers
Lines Brothers was the most popular of 1920s rocking
horse makers. The family company had grown out of
one of the original Victorian rocking horse makers,
G&J
Lines, and was later to become the well-known
toy maker, Triang. The Sportiboy has stood the test of time and remains a very popular rocking horse amongst owners and riders alike! If you are fortunate enough to own a Sportiboy but one that has seen better days, we provide expert rocking horse restoration.
