The wooden rocking horses that were made in Liverpool by J. Collinson & Sons are frequently to be found in our restoration workshops, and we have a great deal of experience of repairing, restoring, renovating, refurbishing and reviving them.

Collinson rocking horses have a long history that is said to date back to the 1840s. Notably, older examples rarely come to light. Rather, the Collinsons that visit our workshops mostly date from the 1950s to 1990s. During that period, the Collinson rocking horses were enormously popular. They were sold in major London stores such as Harrods and Hamleys, but were also on sale in regional department stores in major British cities, as well as scores of toy shops around the country.

Their distinctive features are not to everyone's taste, and one of the options that we offer is a re-modelling of a Collinson horse in a way that creates a completely different appearance. If you are an owner who prefers that their horse retains his or her unique original features, we certainly cater for that preference too.

Kensington Rocking Horse Company is a specialist restorer of Collinson rocking horses and other antique rocking horses and we provide expert bespoke restoration, renovation and refurbishment. Please contact us and we will be delighted to provide recommendations, more example photos and costings.
